    6 – 9 July / Gorffennaf

Good times! Theatr Mwldan and Cardigan Castle announce a fantastic weekend of comedy in the grounds of Cardigan Castle over the weekend of 6 – 9 July.

Across four nights the Castle will play host to a brilliant comedy line-up which includes the likes of Phill Jupitus, Jeremy Hardy, Barbara Nice and Mike Bubbins.

A witty, dynamic and original show written in his mother tongue, Pontardawe-born Noel James’ ‘Reit Ei Walia’ gives his brilliantly surreal observations on the current state of the social landscape in post-Brexit Gwalia at 6.30pm on Thursday 6th July. Packed with jokes and music this Welsh-language set shows that Noel James is indeed an Eirian Pontshan for the twenty first century!

Star of BBC Radio Wales and hit show The Unexplainers Mike Bubbins follows with his new show Solid Gold at 8.30pm on Thursday 6th July. Mike’s observational style and natural flair for storytelling have earned him a reputation as one of the true rising stars on the Welsh comedy circuit.

Noel James delivers an exquisite amalgamation of witticism and word play in ‘I’m Cerebral….Get Me Out of Here!’ on Friday 7th July at 6.30pm, this time presented in English. His themes are manifold – from jobs, Wales and family right through to the Elephant Man, and you can expect a high-energy performance as Noel seeks to address some of life important questions, such as…where is Pontardawe? (It’s actually next to Ynysmeudwy).

With four decades of comedy under his belt Jeremy Hardy, star of BBC Radio 4’s ‘The News Quiz’ and ‘I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue’ performs his 2017 live show starting at 8.30pm on Friday. A veteran on the UK stand-up circuit, one kind soul in The Guardian once wrote of him, “In an ideal world, Jeremy Hardy would be extremely famous, but an ideal world would leave him without most of his best material.”

Edinburgh Fringe’s favourite housewife Barbara Nice (AKA Phoenix Nights actress and comedian Janice Connolly) brings us her new show ‘Raffle!’ on Saturday 8th July at 6pm, a playful life-affirming show for all the family (12+) including a chance to win a prize off Barbara’s table. Comedian, poet, improviser, TV stalwart and Buzzcocks favourite Phill Jupitus follows with his show ‘Juplicity’ on Saturday evening at 8.30pm.

Sunday afternoon brings the bard’s shortest, funniest and most rumbustious comedy in William Shakespeare’s ‘The Comedy of Errors’ at 5.30pm courtesy of Cardigan favourites Illyria, and Drew Taylor and Steffan Evans (star of S4C’s Gwerthu Allan) round the weekend off with a bilingual set hosted by the happiest man on the comedy circuit, Col Howarth at 8.30pm.

Theatr Mwldan is the sole ticketing outlet for these events – please contact their Box Office on 01239 621200 or book online at www.mwldan.co.uk.
