What we say: It’s the yearly visit from my sister and the perfect opportunity for us to have some mother daughter time, something all three of us look forward to. So with this in mind we booked the Celtic Haven Half-Day Taster, which offers two treatments along with half a day in the spa with lunch for £69.00. Perfect for a bit of pampering along with a quiet and relaxing environment in which to catch up.
On booking we were asked to arrive for lunch at 12 with our treatments booked from 3.30.
Lunch was a relaxing affair in the cliff top bar and restaurant, Waves. We were shown to our table and handed the set menu. Myself, and my sister both opted for homemade lasagne, served with salad and chips and mum went for a jacket potato with prawn mayonnaise. Although the restaurant was quiet on our arrival, by the time our lunch arrived, it was soon filled with the chatter of families enjoying lunch.
The restaurant caters well for families with high chairs with plenty of room between the tables. The large open space was at times a little noisy, so we were looking forward to the peace and tranquillity that the spa promised.
Heading to the spa we discovered that the pool was closed between 12.30 and 1.30, so returned to the restaurant for a coffee as we had plenty of time before our treatments and still had plenty to chat about.
On entering the spa, we were indeed enveloped in peace and calmness. Set away from the hustle and bustle of the resort, we were booked in and shown to the robing room, where we changed into fluffy gowns and slippers and headed down to the relaxation room. A room with large open doors, overlooking the golf course to the sea beyond, accommodating large and very comfortable wicker loungers, snuggly rugs, massage chairs and fridge with some juices. Mum took the opportunity for a dip into the pool and hot tub housed within the main building, whilst my sister and I chose to just chill out in the relaxation room until we were collected for our treatments.
We had all selected a Celtic Haven Taster Facial along with a Holistic Well-being Massage and all agreed the treatments were fantastic. My therapist Laura was discreet, quiet and obviously experienced. The products used were from the Elemis range and I left with a prescriptive card offering a list of recommended products to use suitable for my skin type. I was also offered a 10% discount on products purchased in the day. The feedback from my mother and sister was very similar; both floating back to the relaxation room to enjoys a tea or coffee. By now it was 4.30 and we happily relaxed discussing the evening ahead after enjoying a very pleasant afternoon, before heading back to the robing room in order to dress and leave.
The After Effects: All three of us agreed that the treatments were superb, our lunch was delicious and the day had gone well. The only downside was the slight rush to leave following our treatments, as the spa closed at 5pm, cutting our experience short a little, perhaps something we should have been notified about on booking, allowing us the option to book a different day with earlier treatments. Other than that it was a very pleasant afternoon spent with mum and sister.
